George at ASDA launches the "£20 Interview Suit"
- 60% of people actively looking for a job
- Only 34% of men in full time employment feel like they have job security
- Sales of formal wear within ASDA have lifted by 18% since the Apprentice aired
60% of people are currently looking for a new job according to figures released today and so George at ASDA has launched the ‘£20 Interview Suit’ to help cash strapped interviewees look their best and fight off the ever increasing competition in today’s jobs market.
Graduate recruitment in particular, has suffered and the opportunities for jobs have been cut by around 17%. Students are working harder than ever to enter the workplace whilst facing fierce competition not only from their peers but now the rest of the job market.
Anthony Thompson, Managing Director of George comments: “For some men, even having to spend £20 on a suit must be a carefully considered purchase as wallets are particularly strained. “Why should people have to worry about being able to afford basic workwear in order to make a good impression to help them earn a living, when quality clothing can easily be made accessible for everyone?”
Only 34% of men in full time employment feel like they have job security and are conscious that dressing to impress in the office can sometimes help them keep hold of their jobs.
Fiona Lambert, George brand director comments: “Looking good and making the right first impression in an interview is crucial for finding a job in the current economic climate. Shoppers are looking for value for money on what they consider classic wardrobe essentials and the £20 Interview suit is the perfect solution to dressing stylishly for less,”
Since the Apprentice aired last month, sales of formal wear within ASDA have lifted by 18% and it seems that Alan Sugar is helping to give graduates the much needed boost and confidence to persist with their ideal job search despite the gloomy outlook.
The Interview Suit normally retails at £25 and for the Easter Weekend only, George has reduced the price to £20 to offer even more value for money for struggling office workers. There are also more deals in store with 2 shirts for £5 or 2 shirt and tie sets for £8 meaning it’s only £24 for a whole outfit.
Available in stores nationwide from Friday April 10 until Monday April 13, the suit includes a black double breasted jacket and trousers ethically sourced from Bangladesh and China.
