Britain's best value Dom Perignon at Asda for £30 bottle

ASDA today announced it will be selling the legendary Dom Perignon champagne with a corking price tag of almost 70% less than other retailers*.

Bottles of the famous fizz will be sold in all ASDA Supercentres and selected stores to ensure shoppers’ Christmases and New Years go with a posh pop rather than a bleak bang.

Exactly the same bottle and vintage goes for £240 at Annabels, £230 at The Ritz, £210 at Claridges and £190 at The Dorchester.

Philippa Carr, ASDA’s Master of Wine, said: “We’re ensuring our customers’ celebrations don’t go flat this season. They can party by popping the most prestigious corks in the world, at ASDA price. Our price of £30 a bottle is sure to add sparkle to anyone’s festive season. We’re confident that no other retailer will be selling Dom Perignon at a better price.”

If you can’t make it in store before this limited edition Dom Perignon runs out, don’t panic, ASDA has a great range of pocket friendly fizz starting from £10.74.

The prestige cuvee of Moet et Chandon, Dom Perignon is a vintage champagne which means that all the grapes used in the wine are harvested in the same year, the first vintage being 1921 and sold in 1936 (ASDA’s current stock is from the 1999 vintage).

It is a famous top tipple of stars such as Tom Jones, P.Diddy and the late Marilyn Monroe, and is named after Dom Perignon, a Benedictine Monk who allegedly discovered the champagne method for making sparkling wines.

Obviously more of a Dom Perignon fan than a Beatles fan, James Bond famously said in Goldfinger: “My dear girl, there are some things that just aren’t done, such as drinking Dom Perignon ’53 above the temperature of 38 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s just as bad as listening to the Beatles without earmuffs!”
