For the second time in two weeks Asda today reacted quickly to the latest reductions in wholesale costs on unleaded and diesel by immediately passing the savings on to their customers.
The cut provides some good news for hard pressed motorists. Following a recent study by the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) the average family could save up to £45 a year by filling up at Asda.
This week Asda was voted the UK’s Favourite Petrol Retailer by a new independent study by Market Force Information, a worldwide leader in customer intelligence solutions.
The survey targeted over 1500 consumers nationwide in an effort to understand the choices made in purchasing petrol, especially owing to fluctuations in prices and the economic challenges the nation currently faces.
Whilst Asda remains the only supermarket to have a national price cap when it cuts the price of fuel, ensuring drivers know what they will pay at the pump regardless of where they live, other fuel retailers are getting away with charging some drivers up to 6 pence per litre difference across their sites.
Andy Peake, Asda’s Petrol Trading Director said: "We’re proud to be voted the UK’s Favourite Petrol Retailer, our customers recognise that we offer lower priced fuel week in week out. Our national price cap on fuel benefits everyone across the country, meaning that no-one filling up at Asda is forced to pay a premium for their fuel because of where they live, The recent OFT report highlights what our customers have known for some time, when Asda comes to town petrol prices tumble.
