Asda Mums go stir crazy for new Nintendo game

Today (20th June) supermarket chain ASDA announces that mums have gone stir crazy for a new game launched by Nintendo DS called the “Cooking Guide”. As the game launches across the UK the supermarket chain says that sales are boiling over with 10,000 copies sold in the first hour.

ASDA has seen a surge of mums whisking around the aisles of the supermarket accompanied by their Nintendo DS (pictures available). Customers were seen pulling a wide range of products off the shelves as they use the interactive game to cook a meal from scratch for the family.

With over 250 mouth-watering menu ideas from around the world mums will get help creating a shopping list for the ingredients and then the game will then talk you through how to cook meal – it’s like having your own chef alongside you in your kitchen.

The supermarket chain were surprised to see how much of a big hit the game was as excited mums rushed through store collecting ingredients. ASDA has seen massive sale increases of up to 74% on cookware items such as casserole dishes, woks and kitchen utensils.

The recipes can be selected by various criteria such as Nationality, Basic Ingredients and calorie intake, so you can also create healthy meals. The game will appeal to customers of all different ages, from students who may live away from home and need some hints and tips on cooking to busy mums who can’t decide what to cook for tea.

ASDA’s buying manager for games Duncan Cross said “This game is going to cook up a real storm with our customers, especially mums who need some new menu ideas and it’s available at a great ASDA price!

The Nintendo DS cooking game will be sold in ASDA for £24.71 and the RRP is £29.99.
