ASDA announces Middleton employment partnership

Supermarket to Deliver up to 375 New Full and Part Time Jobs

ASDA, the Leeds based supermarket, is announcing plans for a Local Employment Partnership targeting job seekers and the long term unemployed in the Middleton and Belle Isle area.

ASDA’s plans for a new 37,000 sq ft (sales area) store in Middleton, opposite the St George Community Centre, will create up to 375 new full and part time jobs and ASDA are determined local people will be the first to benefit from employment opportunities.

With unemployment rising across Leeds, ASDA’s plans represent a significant boost to south Leeds and will also provide local people with more supermarket choice and access to ASDA’s low prices.

All ASDA colleagues received a discount card, NVQ training, option to join ASDA’s sharesave scheme, contributory pension, discounted medical cover and the opportunity for development throughout a UK wide, Leeds based company.

ASDA are committed to recruiting colleagues locally, at our recently opened store in Keighely over 80% of colleagues were recruited from the local area. At our Breck Road store in Liverpool over 60% of our 277 colleagues were recruited from the long term unemployed.
