X Factor champion Sam Bailey performs at Asda Morley!

X Factor champion Sam Bailey surprised shoppers in Asda Morley this week when she held a performance for competition winner Laura Newsome.

The concert, in which Sam performed three songs, was dedicated to Laura Newsome who entered a competition on behalf of her mum Angela to thank her for all her support over the years – and to surprise her with a belated Mother’s Day present.

Sam came to Morley after hearing Laura’s heartwarming story of her mum’s support and care during a difficult time: “Over the last five years my mum has been an absolute rock looking after me as I’ve had numerous surgeries on my legs to correct a condition that has meant that for most of my teen years I haven’t been able to act like a normal teenager.”

“Without my mum I wouldn’t have passed my exams and without her support and care I wouldn’t have got through the complications.”

Angela, who watched Sam Bailey’s journey on the X Factor, is a huge fan and said she constantly has Sam’s album playing in the house. Laura, Angela and their family received VIP treatment on the day, including a meet and greet with Sam, and saw a live performance of Angela’s favourite song ‘Skyscraper’ up close!

After the performance Laura tweeted:

Sam also gave a powerful rendition of ‘Power of Love’ from her new album, and had a laugh with the audience as crowds gathered in the entrance of Asda Morley to see the X Factor champion sing. Sam usually shops in our Leicester store and said: “I could’ve killed two birds with one stone – I’ve got to go to Asda for my shopping when I get back home tonight.”
