Tai Chi master is nominated to open newest Asda Supermarket
Local legend and Tai Chi master Arthur Leong was the first customer to shop at our newly opened store in South Harrow – one out of 147 former Netto stores to be converted into new look Asda Supermarkets.

Arthur, 68, has been teaching Tai Chi in the local community for the past three years, running free classes for up to 50 people each morning at Roxeth Recreational Ground. He was nominated to be the guest of honour at the official opening of our new store by members of his class, who were grateful for his dedication in promoting health and fitness in the local area.
Alan Payne, store manager at the new Asda South Harrow, told us: “We’re delighted Arthur could join us and it was inspirational to hear what a difference his teachings have made to the local community.”
Arthur was given the honour of cutting the ribbon at the ceremony and received a £50 Asda gift voucher to spend in store on the day.
“I was so surprised to learn I had been nominated,” Arthur says. “I enjoy exercising every day and am glad that all the people who join me each day get so much out of it. It’s great to be able to share this joy with other members of the South Harrow community.”
