Extra Special beers in Japan

The Extra Special beers, produced by Kent-based Shepherd’s Neame Brewery, have proved so popular in Japan that sales in Seiyu stores are through the roof.

The Extra Special Golden Ale launched into 368 Seiyu stores in February, followed by the Extra Special Gentleman James in April.

Andy Clarke, General Manager for Exports at IPL, says: “We’ve seen an increase in demand for British products in Japan and because we’ve been selling our Extra Special wines in Seiyu stores for four years, we’ve built up a real customer trust in the brand. We currently source over 50 products for Walmart Japan and China, giving our producers a unique opportunity to access emerging markets, as well as supplying to the UK.”
