New Asda Grocery Android app makes it easy to shop on the go

If you’re one of the many people who have an Android smartphone you can now do your shopping wherever you are using our new Asda Grocery app.

It has some great features that make it easy it to select and add products to your basket. You can simply tell your phone the name of a product or ingredient and it will find it using clever voice search functionality.

Or you can use your phone to scan a barcode to add something to your basket – handy if you’ve got existing products in your cupboard or fridge that are about to run out or if you’re in another shop and want to compare prices.

Like the iPhone grocery app we launched last year, it also includes a mobile store locator with maps and directions to every Asda store.

The Android app has been developed with the help of WalmartLab’s mobile team in the US. Kate Cuthbertson, head of mobile innovation at Asda, says: “More than half of Asda customers now have a smartphone – and they’ve told us they love the convenience and freedom that it gives them.”

If you have an Android smartphone try the app for yourself and let us know what you think – it’s available to download for free from Google Play.
