Showcasing the very best of local produce at Leeds Loves Food

Thank you to everyone who came along to show their support for local Yorkshire food producers at the Leeds Loves Food Festival at the weekend.

Our local sourcing team held a really successful Meet the Buyer event where they got the chance to sample local producers’ fare and spot those with the potential to be stocked on our shelves.

We stock more than 6000 local food products in our stores and work with 250 producers in Yorkshire – from farmers like Mike Powley, who rears beef for us, to local chutney and cheese makers.

Mike talked to visitors about the care and attention that goers into rearing our beef – and our Master Butcher Andy Madeley was on hand to showcase the quality of our Butcher’s Selection meat range.

And Blur guitarist turned cheesemaker Alex James joined us on the Asda stand at the festival to let visitors sample some of the fantastic cheeses from his range which is available exclusively at Asda.
