Help tackle food poverty with our National Food Drive in store

Donations in store

We’re joining forces with The Trussell Trust and other local foodbanks this Saturday (3rd August) to ask customers and colleagues in all of our stores to donate what food they can to our National Food Drive.

Currently 13 million people live below the poverty line in the UK alone. Every day people are going hungry for many different reasons – be it redundancy or an unexpected bill – and they rely on the help of local foodbanks to feed themselves and their families. We want to make sure that we do whatever we can to help these people in need.

We need your help to make sure that our first National Food Drive is a success. When you visit your local store this Saturday please give what you can to help those in need – the following items are always needed and donations can really help those less fortunate:

  • Milk (UHT or powdered)
  • Sugar (500g)
  • Fruit juice (carton)
  • Soup
  • Pasta sauces
  • Sponge pudding (tinned)
  • Tomatoes (tinned)
  • Cereals
  • Rice pudding (tinned)
  • Tea bags/instant coffee
  • Instant mash potato
  • Rice/pasta
  • Tinned meat/fish
  • Tinned vegetables
  • Tinned fruit
  • Jam
  • Biscuits or snack bars

All you need to do is drop off your donation in the special trolley set up in your local store’s foyer. Be sure to pick up one of our handy shopping lists on the day to help you choose the donations that the foodbank charities we’re working with are most in need of.
