Venison is a growing trend and could be a surprise hit at Christmas
If you’re looking for something different for your Sunday roast why not try venison? It’s a great alternative to beef and is becoming increasingly popular.
And our new Extra Special Venison Wellington was a big talking point at our Christmas Press Event recently. The Wellington, which will be on sale at Asda nearer Christmas, is made with British venison and tangy cherry stuffing, encased in all-butter puff pastry.
All our venison is 100% British, Red Tractor approved and is sourced from our supplier in Northern Ireland, Finnebrogue, who also make all our Extra Special sausages.
Sales of venison in the UK are up by 400% compared to last year according to recent research by retail analyst Kantar.
Jim Viggars, our Head of Meat Quality, says: "Roasted venison has a lower fat content than beef, making it a lower in fat alternative. It’s also full of iron and packed full of vitamins B3, B6 and B12.
“Venison is always a fantastic meat choice despite its reputation as a tough and robust meat and is definitely one of my firm favourites all year round. Our Extra Special Venison Wellington will be a centrepiece on my table this Christmas!”
