Brighten up your fruit bowl with the Kenyan Sunshine Passion Fruit

Kenyan Sunshine Passionfruit

If you love passion fruit you’ll be passionate about this – introducing the Kenyan Sunshine Passion Fruit!

We’re the first UK supermarket to sell this eye-catching yellow variety from Kenya.

Double the size of the regular purple passion fruit, the Kenyan variety is also much sweeter which means it can be enjoyed straight from the fruit bowl or added to fruit salad, jellies or mousse.

The sunshine passion fruit is perfect as an on-the-go snack – it’s peel and mess free!

Grown by Kenyan farmers in project supported by DFID – the Government’s Department for International Development – the sunshine passion fruit has allowed growers to become long-term sustainable suppliers to the UK, and since launching in 2010, the project has laid the groundwork for a sustainable industry that can help farming families lift themselves out of poverty.

International Development Secretary Justine Greening said: "These new fruits are an excellent example of how leading British companies are joining the fight against global poverty. They taste pretty good too.

“Making sure Kenyan farmers can sell their goods will create new jobs, boost incomes and ultimately help end their dependency on aid.”

Gemma Barlow, from our Fresh Produce team, added: “We’re constantly looking for new and exciting products to bring into Asda and the sunshine passion fruit brings a ray of sun to the family fruit bowl this autumn, and is sure to be a hit with exotic fruit fans!"

Kenyan passion fruit is priced at £1 for a pack of two, and is on sale in 113 stores and will be available all year round.
