Why colleagues want to stay at Asda

MISSING VIDEO 15293

People like working for Asda and the proof is in the number of people who stay with us for years – unusual for an industry such as retail where people tend to change jobs frequently.

Just over 40% of all our colleagues have been with the company for five years or more – that’s 67,686 colleagues out of 163,392 to be precise.

Some of our longest-serving colleagues got together recently when they were guests of honour at a big garden party – and you can hear why they think people stay so long at Asda in the video.

We have great perks – such as the colleague bonus scheme and the share savings scheme which are open to everyone, not just senior managers – but that’s not all. People talk about the “Asda way of doing things” and this culture is in everything we do from the way we look after each other to the way we serve our customers. That’s why we recruit people for their attitude and then teach them the skills they need for their particular role.

And if they have the right attitude we’re not afraid to employ and retrain people from all walks of life – whether they’re colleagues who’ve retired from a previous career like Fred Sirrell or whether they’re registered disabled, or have been out of work for a while. We work with a number of agencies including Remploy and Jobseekers to find the right people.

What’s the best thing about working at Asda? If you’re a colleague add a comment about your experience of working at Asda or upload a photo or video here.
