Go Jahmene!

Our colleague Jahmene Douglas remains one of the favourites to win the 2012 X Factor crown after a storming performance in the second live show.

Jahmene, a process colleague at Asda Haydon in Swindon, put in a confident and assured performance of Amy Winehouse’s Tears Dry On Their Own.

It earned him some great comments from the judges, including Louis Walsh calling him one of his “favourite contestants ever on The X Factor.”

Jahmene will be back in action on Saturday when the theme is set to be ‘club classics’. Give us your suggestions for what Jahmene should sing below.

Go Jahmene!

Asda colleagues at our Haydon store in Swindon are delighted that their friend and colleague Jahmene Douglas is proving such a big hit on The X Factor.

They’re backing him all the way and say his weekly appearances on the show have created a real buzz in store.

When a local TV camera crew visited the store this week colleagues showed their support by wearing “Go Jahmene” t-shirts and creating Jahmene masks.

Si Barrow, Chilled Section leader, says: “We all knew he could sing but we didn’t know just how good he was.”

Jahmene Douglas wowed his colleagues, friends and legions of fans with a knock-out performance of John Lennon’s Imagine to close the very first live show of 2012’s The X Factor.

The Asda Haydon colleague, who is currently taking a 12-month career break while he pursues his musical ambitions, got a great response and made it through to next week’s show.

Despite being warned not to ‘over sing’ by Gary Barlow, Jahmene’s perfomance went down well with colleagues and fans on Twitter and Facebook – a post on our Facebook page on Saturday night got a whopping 9,753 ‘likes’ and 1,134 comments!

Jahmene Douglas

Jahmene will sing live this weekend to an X Factor audience of millions but when he first started working at Asda he was “too shy” even to talk to customers.

His boss at Asda Swindon Haydon, Stewart, says: "We had to really build up his confidence. When we first told him he was going onto the shop floor he was terrified!

“Like a lot of people his age he found it a bit awkward to talk to customers but once he got chatting to someone he was fine. We told him to just be himself.”

Provisions manager Stewart says what you see on TV is the real Jahmene. "He’s very genuine and that’s part of his appeal.

Go Jahmene!

Congratulations to Jahmene who is now through to the live X Factor shows after his fantastic version of David Guetta’s Titanium.

Jahmene overcame his now infamous nerves to give an incredible performance in front of mentor Nicole Scherzinger and singer Ne-Yo in Dubai.

See what our Facebook fans said about his latest performance on the Asda Facebook page.

Nicole said he was a “a big risk” because of his nerves and then told him: “Fortunately I believe in you and I’m willing to take that risk.”

Jahmene said it felt like “a massive dream” getting through to the live shows – watch his reaction to the news on X Factor’s You Tube channel.
