Local football team kitted out thanks to Asda Foundation grant

Young footballers from Mosborough FC will be taking to the pitch in these smart new kits thanks to a grant from the Asda Foundation.

The team with Nanette

The players called in at our Sheffield Drakehouse store to receive a cheque for £995.37 and thank our community champion Nanette Mansell for her help securing the donation.

Team manager Shane Latham said: "We’re very, very grateful. Nanette was absolutely brilliant and helped us every step of the way. She also organised a bag pack in the store which helped us raise more vital funds.

“We’ve used the grant to buy a new kit for matches and a training kit too – they really look like a team now. The kids are really happy – when they come in for a match they’re excited to try on the kit and look really smart.

“We’re also playing in an Easter tournament in Holland next year against teams from across Europe and will be proud to wear the kit in that.”

The team are based close to the store, which is on Beighton Road East, and play in the Sheffield & District Junior league.

“They’re a great bunch of kids,” said Nanette. "They were so grateful and their parents were great too. They were shaking my hand and thanking me for everything I’ve done for the team, which was lovely.

“The kids have even offered to do a fundraising bag pack for another local charity rather than themselves, which is a fantastic offer.”
