P&G Clean Water campaign

We’ve joined forces with former Spice Girl Melanie C to help spread the word about our Clean Water campaign with P&G.

Thanks to our customers the P&G And Asda Clean Water campaign has already provided an amazing 30 million days of clean drinking water to those who need it most.

Now we’re hoping to increase this to 75 million days of clean drinking water by the end of this year. It’s an ambitious goal but with your help we know we can get there!

P&G Clean Water campaign

It is estimated that for more than one billion people safe drinking water is a problem – something we in the UK usually take for granted.

Contaminated water not only tastes bad but it causes diseases that are killing more children than HIV Aids and Malaria combined – nearly 2,000 children every day.

P&G Clean Water campaign

That’s why we’ve joined forces with P&G to help save one life every hour by 2020. Our goal for the next 12 months is to provide 75 million days of clean drinking water for people who desperately need it.

How we’re going to do it:

For every stickered pack you buy at Asda with the “1 pack = 1 day’s clean water” logo, P&G will donate a day’s worth of clean drinking water to people living in developing countries. See full terms and conditions.

The amazing water purification technology you can see in the video above was invented by P&G scientist Dr Phil Souter in Newcastle while he was trying to find ways to reuse the dirty water at the end of a laundry cycle.

Since this pioneering breakthrough, P&G water purification sachets have prevented an estimated 220+ million days of illness and helped save more than 29,000 lives.

The water-purification sachets take just 30 minutes to turn dirty water into clean, drinkable water.

See us in action

The lack of clean drinking water in developing countries is a global crisis. Since its inception, the P&G Children’s Safe Drinking Water programme has worked with more than 100 non-governmental organisations, charities and governments to raise awareness and deliver clean water. Read more about the programme here.

You can help make a big difference to someone’s life – just by doing your weekly shop. Every time you buy one of these stickered packs P&G will donate one day’s clean drinking water.
