Mums share tips on potty training
If you’re thinking about potty training your toddler soon you might find some of these tips helpful.
They’re all from Asda mums who were winners of our recent “Dry Like Me” competition.
Be patient
Rachel from Greenock, Scotland says: “Wait until your child is ready! You can’t force them into such a big change. They need to understand what is happening for it to be a success.”
Sarah from the North East says: “Have patience, it’s the only way – keep it fun and light and never lose your temper.”
Give rewards
Sarah from Draperstown says: “I always try to keep them in training pants, and I like to have a wall chart and let them put stickers on when they have used the potty.”
Cath from Bonnybridge says: “A little reward like a chocolate button or a grape when the potty is used helps reinforce the use of it!”
Make it fun
Krystle from Watford says: “Read a story while your little one is on the potty and give lots of praising when they use it!”
Nicola from Tyne and Wear says: “When your child is sitting on potty or toilet get them to blow bubbles or play a game to see who can blow the hardest on their hand, it always makes them have a wee.”
Dry like Me training pads are a great alternative to traditional pull-up pants and are useful for little ones who have been potty trained but may have still have the occasional “accident”. They’re available from Asda for £2 a pack.
