Had a very enjoyable day down the Rogerstone Welfare grounds today representing Asda Duffryn! We were one of just 20 stores chosen to hold the Asda Active event, where various sporting activities were set up for children of all ages to have a go for free! Despite the persistent rain, numerous children attended the event and enjoyed taking part. Javelin, fencing and kwik cricket were just a few of the sports that were available to try. I have attached a photo of me and Jackie keeping dry under our gazebo :)

Had a busy few months training and working on technique. I competed in a national league meeting in Derby last weekend and had a very good day all round! Managed to throw two throws over 54m in the hammer to win the competition, finishing with 54.15m, which has been my furthest throw since April! Also had new personal bests in the shot putt, javelin and discus events – must be getting stronger from the weights! :) Only a few weeks left of the competing season now before I’ll be back in to winter training!
I look forward to attending an Asda event in a few weeks time being held in Rogerstone! I will be there supporting Jackie and the team, should be a very good day! :) I will let you know how it goes xx

Had an amazing opportunity at the start of last month to compete in the new Olympic Stadium in London for the British University Championships!
I under-performed in the actual competition and was very disappointed with my performance but was still well worth the trip.
My throwing and training has suffered over the last few weeks due to my first year university exams, but I am glad to say they finished yesterday so I am now free to get back into some good training.
Competed in the Welsh Athletics Championships today and won the gold medal, setting a new championship best performance of 52.22m! :) The distance is not great but I believe I will move onwards and upwards now over the next few weeks as I can concentrate on it fully!
Got lots of great competitions coming up so hopefully I can perform at my best! Will let you know how I get on….!!
Had a late invitation to the Winter Throws Competition in Loughborough 2 weeks ago and got to throw against some of the best female hammer throwers in Britain. I went into the competition not expecting much of a result due to it being so early on in the season but managed to prove myself wrong.
Ended up breaking the Welsh U20 female hammer record with a throw of 55.81m! Threw consistently over my previous personal best (53.49m) with poor technique, so shows there is still more to come! It was a fantastic competition, with many great results. Definitely well worth the trip! Back into heavy training now for a few weeks before my next competition. I hope to post again with more pb’s soon.
Very pleased and excited to be chosen for a second year as the Asda athlete for the Duffryn store! After a successful year of fundraising with Jackie last year, I’m looking forward to the same again this year.
As far as training goes, throwing is going very well so far this winter. Moving in the right direction and putting in lots of hard work. Managing to juggle training with University studies and cooking my own food has been tougher than I imagined but coping okay so far.
I’m hoping to open my competition season up at the British University Championships being held in the Olympic Stadium in May! Will be a fantastic opportunity to and can’t wait to compete. Just got to keep putting the hard work in now and hope it pays off in the summer.
Will keep you posted how things go!
