This weekend, I had an amazing time at the English Schools Athletics Championships where I was proud to be representing team Essex.

For my competition, the weather conditions were very difficult to contend with, the rain just didn’t stop. Although the weather was one of the worst I have ever had to vault in, it did give me the experience of having to compete in heavy rain and cold conditions. The amazing support from Team Essex was incredible and helped to keep me motivated and positive through the wind and rain.

The result ended with me finishing in third place; the first podium position I have achieved at English Schools, with Team Essex finishing second. I had a brilliant weekend away and I am looking forward to hopefully returning next year.

A big thankyou to the team managers and fellow athletes that were so supportive throughout the whole weekend!

AS Level exams are finally over; so now I’ve got the chance to fully concentrate on my vaulting! So far, my season has been consisting of me improving my technique and moving onto bigger poles, so a few changes have been made to my vault, which will enable me to keep jumping higher.

On the 17th of January was the U20 National Championships at Bedford International Stadium, where although there was challenging weather, it was a fairly successful competition with me finishing in 3rd place. With the competition being much earlier in the season than usual, I am confident that I’ve got the ability to be able to still jump higher this season!

The English Schools Athletics Championships is coming up soon, and I always look forward to this competition where I’m given the opportunity to represent my county, and compete against other great athletes.

I’m really excited to see the results of the rest of my season, where I’m hoping to keep progressing onto bigger poles, and higher heights!

Over the Easter Bank Holiday, I travelled to Loughborough with my coach to train with the National pole vault mentors where I had a fantastic opportunity to use the amazing facilities and equipment.

By training at the University, It was great to get an insight into the lives of full time athletes and I saw similar things I could be doing by the time I get to University.

Whilst training with other experienced athletes and coaches, I was given more advice and help with my technique and skills during my vault sessions that I can take away with me and use at my home club.

Big thankyou to everyone at Loughborough!
