Last Wednesday (29th August) I got up at 4am to travel to London to carry the Paralympic flame as part of the 24 hour Torch Relay. It was an amazing experience, and one I’ll never forget. I met lots of inspirational people who were carrying the flame for all sorts of reasons.
As if that wasn’t enough, on Friday 31st, after watching a morning of athletics in the Paralympic stadium, I was invited into the Paralympic village. I got to see all the athletes behind the scenes and even bumped into a few friends! Then, on Saturday, my family and I went to the Aquatics Centre where we watched Ellie Simmonds and Matt Whorwood (who both have the same condition as me) swim to Gold and Bronze medals in their events. The atmosphere was brilliant and I was so impressed by their achievements and how much the crowd got behind them.
