On 31st August I arrived back home after a 2 week holiday in sunny Spain. We landed at Prestwick Airport at 12 midnight and after a long drive home I was hitting my own bed at at 4 in the morning.

I had to be up for 11am the next morning, as I had to be a Washington Services for 12 to get on the team bus to travel to Sheffield for UK School Games. I had been selected as part of the swimming team for England North. I was really tired when I got up, so I was glad I prepared my kit before going on my holidays.

Once I got to the Washington Service Station my tiredness soon turned to excitement.

When we arrived in the Athletes Village, we were allocated our flats and shown to our rooms. We were then given our England Kit and given our goody bags, which was full toiletries; shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, bodywash etc.

On Thursday the 6th of October I travelled to the Neptune Centre in Middlesbourough, as part of the Biddick School Sports College relay team.

We went on the school mini bus after school, there was a year 10 boys team and a year 7 girls team, Mrs Scott and Miss Matlass were on the mini bus, while Mr Mckensie followed in his car.

My mam, dad and twin sister Emma came down to Middlesborough to support me.

We swam in 2 relays the freestyle and the medley, in the medley I swam the backstoke leg, this meant I went first. In the boys team was myself, Jordan and Ryan, my team mates from Sunderland Swim Club, the fourth person on the freestyle team was Brad and on the Medley was Dan.

It was funny seeing all my mates from the club swimming in their sunderland hats representing their schools and there was also my mates from other local swimming clubs representing there schools.

We had a fun night and had our team photo taken for the ESSA website.

When I got back to school my sister Hannah picked me up as she had just passed her driving test,

On 22nd September I attended the Biddick School Sports College Celebration Evening, where I was recognised for my past years sporting achievements, where I received a Special Subject Award for Physical Education.

It was a good night where the upper school students were recognised for their past years achievements.

The day after I returned from UK School Games, it was the start of the new season, so it was back into fulltime training.

I found it hard going, after nearly a month off. My body ached and I had to get used to those early morning again.

Although it was great to catch up with my swimming mates again and find out what everyone has been up to.

It was also the time to start and think about goals for the coming year, 2012!!!!!

On Friday the 9th of August I met up with Mavis, my Asda Community Colleage to find out how I had done on my Tombola, I raised £186 I am really pleased with that. This money will help me get to the competitions, in the new swim season, that begins in September.

Competitions planned so far are

Sunderland Open 4/5 Nov
Disability Swimming Event – Sheffield Short Course – 26/27 Nov
NER Short Course – 4/5 Dec
Welsh Long Course – Swansea – 17/18 Dec

With plenty more competitions in 2012

My final plans as we move into the final month of fundraising is definately to do another raffle, I am currently trying to organise raffle prizes. I may try and fit in another tombola as I still have lots of prizes left and loads of raffle tickets folded.
