This weekend has been amazing. After just 20 weeks after a relatively serious injury im back skiing! I travelled down to Xscape in Castleford which is an indoor slope. This means theres real snow, kinda like a big fridge. I did really well and managed to remain consistent with a good technique.
I thought this was a good place to go when returning from injury as there are just rails in Xscape with no big jumps which enables me to keep things simple and gradually get back into the sport and it will help some muscles around my hips which are still feeling sore and weak.
Whilst there I was also able to speak to one of my friends, Katie Summerhayes, who was lucky enough to be selected to carry the Olympic tourch in Sheffield as you can see in the picture below.
Finally, tonight I was able to go to Ponds Forge to work on some tricks on the trampoline. Trying them on the trampoline first enables me to get a feel for the movement and makes the progression of learning a difficult trick a lot safer. I got some futage of something im working on at the moment as you can see below. The idea is to eventually remove the padded mat and take it over my head for a second summersault which would then result in me landing on my feet.
Anyway thats about it.
Im back in the gym tomorrow so i’ll make sure i keep my blog up to date with any more progress. Please check out my video and some of the footage from my first ski after injury:
