I went to the Paralympics last friday and saw some cycling in the velodrome and athletics in the evening! It was an amazing experience, the fact that people were cycling with just one leg, not even using a prosthetic one, was incredible! its amazing what the human body can achieve when you put your mind to something!
So during the summer training is a bit different from winter. We have to taper down for competitions and yet keep the strength from the winter. On monday i increased my half squat to 160kg, just need to make sure i can use that power in my throw now. I’ve only got one competition left in a few weeks time so will give a round up of my season after the last competition.
p.s some kid poked himself in the eye with a javelin at training today.
So who went to see any of the olympics? i was there in the stadium on ‘super saturday’ to witness jess ennis, mo farah and greg rutherford all win their gold medals for great britain. the stadium was electric and if a show of athletic prowess such as that can’t inspire a generation then we are all doomed!
I haven’t been to happy with my performances this year, i didnt get a personal best which was annoying. Considering I only started throwing in April because I had a stress fracture in my back over the winter it could have been worse.
I represented GB at junior level in Estonia for the european junior competition and in Germany at the junior gala, where I came 4th. I won the south of england u20 championships and the Aviva u20 trials.
I was accepted into Loughborough university and will be starting there in a few weeks. I’m hoping to get a good uninjured winter in this year and along with the great coaching and facilities at loughborough next season should be a big one, watch this space…
