Its been a real mixed season for me. I went to the World Duathlon championships to compete with the paraduathletes in the T6 (visually impaired) category. Despite being faster than last year when I came 3rd, in 2012 I came 4th. It was disappointing as I was in first place coming out of the first run and into the bike section. It was my bike which let me down so I know what to do over the Winter. A rigorous bike training regime is on the cards for Winter training.

However, my running is going from strength to strength. I just completed the Chester full marathon yesterday and knocked off a whole 34 minutes off my PB. I finished in 3 hours 7 minutes and 59 seconds. I felt strong throughout the race and really enjoyed the experience. Naturally I am a little sore today but nothing like last year when I did the London marathon in 3 hours 42 and felt absolutely wrecked.

Now for a well earnt rest for a few weeks before Winter training starts.

I was invited by Sebrina of Asda Oadby Store to pop in on 11th August to do a little fund raising. I have to say that I was bowled over by the amount of support I got from the team and customers. The best bit was being allowed to make some anouncements over the loud speakers to customers to tell them what I was doing and why. There was a fantastic response.

Many thanks to Sebrina, Abby, Joy, Sandeep and others who helped. I’m not sure how much we raised but every bit will help in my training and competitions. My next event is in Strathclyde on 2 September. This is a sprint triathlon which forms part of the British Super series. Wish me luck!

Well its been a while since my last blogg but its been busy, busy, busy. Its not easy balancing work, family and my sport but well, its got to be done!

Since my last blogg I have taken part in the National Paratriathlon championships where I got a Silver medal. Not enough to qualify for the World championships in New Zealand later this year. I do have another opportunity to try to get to the world champs later this year at Strathclyde on 2 September but I have to sort out the legistics of getting myself and a guide to Scotland. No mean feit in itself!

I have also completed the Olympic distance Dambuster triathlon and this weekend (8th July) taken part in the Bosworth triathlon. I came down with a heavy cold pretty much when I got home from the event yesterday!!

My next big event is the World Duathlon champs in late September in France, Nancy. I’ll try to update the blogg on my training progress.

Thanks to all at Asda and customers who are supporting me to achieve my dreams and aspirations. Really appreciated.
