This weekend I was in Castleford for the British indoor championships. It was a rail slopestyle comp and was pretty sick! The setup this year was really good like always in Cas. First of all for the Youth mens category, we had a 2 run format best run counts to decide the age category places. My first run I did gap 270 onto the down rail into k fed on the side on down bar then into blind 450 off the up box and I messed up on the last feature up gap down box but still landed a run. The second run and I did the same but messed up on the k fed on the down bar but got the sw on 360 switch up 270 out on the last feature. I was a bit annoyed I didn’t manage to stomp the run I wanted but it was still ok and I ended up coming 3rd!

This year for the open category, which I was allowed to enter aswell, was a jam where you had to make it through each round, and each round was on a different part of the course. The first round was on the whole course for an hour and I was super stoked on my skiing that round, probably the best I’ve skied on rails! I did some 4’s on 2 off’s on the down box and a disaster on 2 out the down flat down. I made it through to the second round on the top part of the course which I was pretty stoked on, then in the 3rd round I got knocked out which meant I placed 7th overall which I was still pretty happy with. The format made it that you could hardly make a mistake as the level was so high and the jam was so short. I messed up 2 k feds on the down bar which was pretty annoying!

At night we hit up the flowrider wave machine which was the sickest thing ever, I highly recommend it!

Overall it was a really fun trip and I was stoked on my overall skiing except I would’ve liked to have done a bit better in the comp!

Looking forward to next year though. Now back to train at the gym and Bearsden dryslope!

Cheers

The second week in Saas fee Switzerland training out on the glacier with the gb youth development team turned out to be such a good week, the weather most days was perfect, blue skies and sun which made the jumps soft for trying new stuff. In the morning while the jumps were too hard to hit, we did excercises to improve our general skiing. Then after half an hour or so we started hitting the big jumps, I was training on the big jumps all week now getting my tricks more stylier. After a couple of days i began trying some more double cork 1080’s, I came so close to landing all of them but crashed everytime, just need to work on the trampolines now to improve them a bit. Although i am still so stoked i tried a few more as that was my main goal that week.

Im back at home now chilling and going to the gym until the season starts again, cant wait!

This week i have been out with the gb youth development squad and the scottish freeski team in Saas Fee switzerland training on the glacier. It has been a really fun time this first week, at the start i was hitting the big line and getting used to doing some cork sevens off them. Then later in the week it got very windy which has made it really hard to hit the big kicker line so i’ve just been sessioning the medium jumps getting a good run on them which has been pretty fun. Hopefully next week the wind will have died down a bit so i can get some new bigger tricks on the big kickers. Cant wait! In the afternoons we have been doing strength and conditioning with our coaches to improve our fitness and general skiing. Its been a really good trick and looking forward to the next week.

Last weekend, was the second annual Bearsden’s GO BIG OR GO HOME competition – probably one of the best freeski/snowboard dryslope in the UK!

It started off with a qualification jam session for 45 mins, which was a bit crowded with so many skiers, but stll good fun. i did a few good tricks to make it into the final including a big rodeo 5 bow and arrow and a cork 7 nose!
After the jam session was done, there was a little break then the final was on! i was stoked to have made it into the final against all the other sick skiers in the jam. In the final, the format was 3 runs best 2 count, which made everyone have to do 2 different tricks which is pretty different but was actually really good. My runs were a switch rodeo 7 japan, a big cork 7 leading mute and another big rodeo 5 bow and arrow. I went for a lot of style in my tricks instead of trying to do massive tricks without making them look nice as i knew the judges were looking for good grabs and style.

It worked out pretty well for me as i stomped all 3 runs and came 2nd in the under 16 category behind tyler harding who threw the sickest cork 9 tail! i was super happy with this result as my category was really hard – big ups to Chris McCormick for third with a super styley cork 9 tail.

Aswell as the GO BIG OR GO HOME comp, there was the Bearsden club freestyle championships on, which was all the Bearsden members competing! In that i was in the overall/over 15 category and i ended up coming first overall in the championships which meant i got my name engraved on the Bearsden board which i’m so stoked about!

It was such a fun comp and i am well happy with the result! Looking forward to next year!

Cheers,

Recently, since I got back from Laax, Switzerland, there hasn’t been a competition, so I have been training in glasgow and edinburgh every week. Most weeks I’ve been through to Bearsden dryslope to work on new tricks and unnaturals twice a week, then in Edinburgh I have been going to the gym and trampolining. I have learnt a few new tricks since I’ve been home, one being a switch rodeo 7 japan!

Along with training, I have also been filming for my 2011/12 season edit which is on YouTube now! Check it out!

That is my whole season in a video with shots from everywhere i went this season! Hope you like it! Thanks.
