Asda Athletes

Met up with Angela our Community Life Champion at ASDA York. We raffled a mobile phone docking station at the front of the store. This raised £75 towards my sport. I would like to thank Angela, her ASDA colleagues and customers for supporting me in helping to fund my sport.

I met with my ASDA Community Life Champion called Angela at York Cricket Ground. There was a Quick Cricket competition for schools which included Junior and Senior Teams. ASDA were the main sponsors,also supplying water and fruit as refreshments which I helped Angela to give out during the day.

I was selected for the UK School Games in May 2012 at the London Aquatics Centre. I won two gold medals in the 100m breaststroke and the 200 IM with a further silver medal in the 100m Butterfly for the England North team.

I also entered the British Gas ASA National Youth Championships 2012 at Ponds Forge Sheffield in July. This was a long course competition for able bodied and Multi-Classification Events. I competed in 7 events and achieved 5 personal bests and made 3 finals.

Many thanks to Asda York Superstore for the cheque. This will greatly contribute towards my swimming fees and equipment.

I have recently taken part in the British Gas Swimming Championships 2012, at the London Aquatics Centre and also the British Disability International Championships 2012 at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. These two competitions enabled me to attempt to qualify for the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Unfortunately I did not qualify this time, however I do regularly continue to improve my personal best times in long course swimming events such as 100 metres Breaststroke, 100 metres Butterfly and 200 metres Individual Medley. I was in the 100 metres Butterly Final in London which was on BBC TV. At the Internationals in Sheffield I was entered for 7 heats and also qualified for five finals.
