Great Britain will have five canoe slalom entrants at this summer’s Olympic Games in London. The British Olympic Association has confirmed places for David Florence, Richard Hounslow, Tim Baillie, Etienne Stott and Lizzie Neave in Team GB.
Each nation is normally limited to one entry per category. However, because Hounslow and Florence both won their individual events as well as teaming up for the C2, a quirk in the qualifying rules means they gain a ‘bonus’ place in the C2 – having already qualified for the Games in their other events. That hands their team-mates Baillie and Stott a C2 place at the Games.
Team GB (Canoe Slalom):
Men’s K1: Richard Hounslow
Men’s C1: David Florence
Men’s C2: David Florence and Richard Hounslow, Tim Baillie and Etienne Stott
Women’s K1: Lizzie Neave
