We asked three people who normally shop elsewhere to try out our new Asda Price Guarantee and report back. Here’s what they found:
Eileen Hughes, 41, usually shops at Tesco.
“I did a family shop at Asda on Sunday. I found all the products I usually buy – but to my surprise I found Asda to be much cheaper. I bought branded products and some Asda own brands which were particularly well-priced, for example two packets of wholewheat pasta for £1.00 – this is much cheaper than Tesco and I feel real value for money. There were also ‘buy one get one free’ offers which I do usually buy. I feel at the moment every pound counts for me and my family and so being able to compare prices is really useful. I have been so impressed with the price that I will shop at Asda again – as I did not have to compromise or choose anything I wouldn’t normally.”
Elaine saved £7.39 compared to Tesco, £8.97 compared to Sainsbury’s and £7.84 compared to Morrisons.
Holly Coviello, 35, usually shops at Morrisons.
“All the leading supermarkets claim to be the cheapest so it will be interesting to see what this will bring in the future and I (personally) would take the time to compare. Shopping recently has become far less enjoyable and you seem
to get so little for your money, it’s really nice to know that you can actually choose the cheapest supermarket and that it will really make a difference to your bill. My shop on Sunday was a general one … some essentials and a few treats for the children. There were lots of generally good offers which is always good to see. I would definitely make the effort to shop at Asda from now on. Knowing that you will be saving money when you are shopping for a family of five is really good to hear.”
Holly saved £5.83 compared to Tesco, £9.27 compared to Sainsbury and £3.56 compared to Morrisons
Karen Homer, 38, usually shops at Sainsbury’s.
“My husband and I went with our 15-month-old daughter to Asda at the weekend. The store was fully stocked and it didn’t take us long to find what we needed and there were enough checkouts open to use without waiting, so our daughter didn’t get too frustrated. But the best part was getting a call to tell us what savings we had made compared to Sainsbury’s (which is our local shop) along with Tescos and Morrisons. We are converted to Asda now!!”
Karen saved £6.58 compared to Tesco, £6.21 compared to Sainsbury’s and £10.15 compared to Morrisons
Sarah Randall, 34, normally shops at Tesco.
“I completed my shopping trip to Asda on Sunday 25th April. I found there was a lot of variety of products, both branded and own brand. The clothing section is very good as is all other non food products, very good variety. There were some good special offers; prices generally are very competitive across the departments. I felt that I got good value for money and if anything had more shopping for my budget. The new Asda Price Guarantee is great. This will encourage me to make extra journey to Asda, as price is very important to me with a young family to look after.”
Sarah saved £4.86 compared to Tesco, £9.91 compared to Sainsbury’s and £4.22 compared to Morrisons
