Sunday 22nd April – First Game of the 2012 season.

So picture this, we drove down to Bath on the Saturday with everyone buzzing for the game the next day. We arrived at our hotel in the early evening after having an extremely funny journey listening to music and taking the mickey out of each other. All starving hungry from our 3 hour journey we decided to go off to the restaurant and have some dinner, making sure that we were all fueled up for the following day. After catching up on Britain’s Got Talent we headed off to our own rooms for an early night.

Game day then arrived with us all waking up in high spirits after a good nights sleep. As usual the laughter came quick and fast at breakfast and it was really feeling like a good day.

The weather was dry as we was all hoping for, even the sun decided to make an appearance. We made a slight detour on the way to the ground, in other words we took the wrong turning. It seems there’s not one away game where we haven’t made a detour so we think it was only normal for us to carry on the tradition into 2012.
Arriving an hour before the start time we all got a chance to look at the pitch. For how bad the rain has been previous to the day I was pretty impressed with how it was looking. Bath Cricket Club is a beautiful little ground with the city of Bath as surrounding scenery. Warming up with a spot of football and our music waiting for our captain to toss up.

We got the signal that we were to bat first. I was pretty happy as I quite like batting first as it gives myself as a bowler more of a challenge to get the opposing team out before they reach our run total.

After completing throw downs the opposition took to the field followed by our opening batters. A few of us decided to watch the game from the amazingly comfortable sofa’s inside in the warm while others decided to brave it outside in the cold.

23 overs had past with us losing just one wicket and our score being a total of 59. We had a slow start but were just about to get going as the rain came pouring down. An early tea was called much to our excitement as we had not eaten since breakfast.

Shortly after, a decision was made to abandon the game as the rain was not going to stop. It was to our disappointment as we had all hoped to start the season off with a win under our belt but that wasn’t to happen. We then traveled back home and all dispersed to our parts of the county and universities.

Our next game is on the 29th. Lets hope that, that is the game to get the 2012 season started. However the weather isn’t looking good…..
