This week I have concentrated on physio and have had 4 gym sessions. Shooting practice has been going well.
On Saturday I went to assist with the registration for the first ever Hull Marathon – 4 hours in St Stephens shopping centre and no time to shop!!
On the Sunday it was an early start as I helped with registration from 5.30 am. At 8am there was a high profile start in the centre of Hull surrounded by a sports and local families and businesses. The 26.2 mile closed road route took in some of the sights of the city and surrounding area. There was also a junior and children’s races and a fun run. This enabled a varied experience for all despite the rain showers.
The fastest competitor came from Bridlington and he completed the event in 2 hours 31 minutes. My training partner Whitney and I were able to award the medals and T shirts to all runners on completion of the event. The last runner completed the course about 3pm. Well done to all runners!
The events main aim was to raise money for charity. Runners raised money for their own charities. In addition to this donations will be made to The Lord Mayor of Hull’s Charity Appeal, Help The Heroes and The Bull Foundation.
The sponsors and partners of the event were: Hugh Rice Jewellers; NPower; Craft Sports; Marathon Photo; Sport Systems; Active Global (UK); Mail News & Media; Warners Sports Medicine; David Lloyd; Eskimo Soup and Simply running
