Out of school early today at 12:45pm and mum drives me to Wrexham Tennis Centre which takes an hour. It is a bit of a rush to get there so I can get changed.

The training starts at 2pm with warm ups and stretching. When we are ready we start hitting some balls. The first exercise we do is a 10 minute drill where we do forehand and backhand shots, we have a short break and onto the next exercise which is cross court rallies for 14 minutes. We go straight onto serves which helps us cool down once we have completed all our drills we put everything into practice by playing against each other. The age range of the other players in the squad are between 14 and 23 years old. A great training session done can’t wait for my next one on Wednesday.

I attended my first ASDA Workshop on Friday the 9th March at Manchester City football ground. It was an early start for me to get there, getting up at 5:30am, to make sure that we weren’t caught in the early morning rush hour traffic. I felt very excited as I would be meeting other athletes.

On signing in I got my ASDA t-shirt which I had to get changed in to and had my photo taken. The Workshop started and they explained how ASDA would support the SportsAid Athletes over the next 12 months.

We were then introduced to Darren Campbell, an Olympic Gold and Silver medalist who gave us an insight into his life. It was a very inspirational talk with his key message that we should believe in ourselves.

It was a great day and I really enjoyed myself.

I want to say a huge thank you to Asda for funding my SportsAid award, I can’t wait to start working with my partnered store in Llandudno.
