Over the past week i have been training out in Slovakia on the canoe slalom course out in Bratislava.

The course itself was very fast, continuous and had a three meter drop at the bottom of it. I had three days paddling on the course before the race to familiarize myself with the water ready to race.

In the race i qualified through to the semi finals in 8th place out of 22 of the senior, U23 and other junior paddlers. This place earned me a medal for being the highest placed junior 16 paddler racing. In the semi’s my run was fast enough for me to qualify through to the final but after a mistake on the middle section of the course i picked a 50 second penalty after missing a gate which knocked me out of the running’s to make the final.

The training continued immediately after the race had stopped through to the following Wednesday when we came back to Britain.
