Admittedly it’s been a while since I last wrote a blog entry- not because there’s been nothing to say, but more because there’s a lot going on.
Now that my GCSEs are out of the way, I’ve been getting back into fencing a little more (obviously I had to relax my training in the exam period and it’s so noticeable when I fence! Or try to…).
I fenced in the Iverclyde Open about a month ago- there were no spectacular results mind, probably due to having been out of training so long. I also refereed at the English Under 15 Championships- not many fencers enjoy refereeing. I think that’s because it makes you really want to be fencing but instead you’re watching the Under 11s. I think the most notable result I’ve had so far was getting to the final of the Cumbrian Open. It was only a small event but nonetheless, it was the first time I’d reached the a final in an Open. I thought I might win the competition after bringing back the fight from 14-12 down, to 14-14. But unfortunately I rushed the last hit and lost… But oh well, it happens.
This weekend is the British Senior Championships- Saturday is the individual event and Sunday is the team event. Training’s been going well and I’m looking forward to fencing; especially in the team event as it’s the first time Team Newcastle have put a women’s team forward. But anyway, I’m going training now so hopefully I’ll bring good news come Monday morning!
