I have spent today sleeping and playing on my xbox after a busy week in Sheffield where I was competing at ASA Nationals. This is how my week went.

DAY BEFORE NATIONALS

I travelled down to Sheffield with my mam, dad, and two sisters. Once we checked into the hotel I meet my coach Danny Thompson at the pool for loosner set, after that it was off to Weatherspoons for tea, then back to the hotel for an early night.

DAY 1

I had to get up a 6.30, I had breakfast in the room which was porridge and pancakes with goldon syrup.

Then it was off to the pool for a 7 o’clock warm up, with the heats starting a 8.

Today was the 400 free, my favourite event, I am glad it was on the first day, as I was still fresh

I swam the 400 free in a time of 4.49.32, giving me a score of 701 disability points, I had swam a pb (personnal best) of 7.40 seconds. I was really pleased with my swim as it was a consideration time for World Class Developement – the next British Swimming Programme up from my current one and I had made the final.

So off to Pizza Hut for lunch, then back to the hotel for a nap in preparation for finals. Warm up was 3.30pm with finals starting at 5pm.

My final swim was ok but I put time on from the heats.

Finals over means tea time – so it was back to Weatherspoons.

With Nationals over for this year, my coach Danny has given a few days off from swimming, to rest,’

As I am not swimming at the moment, and there is no school, the days seem long as my whole day is normally really busy. You can only spend so long in one day on Xbox.

Can’t wait to get back in the pool this Wednesday.

We spoke to Mavis today and I have arranged to go in store this Thursday to do my 3rd Tombola. So it looks like I might be spending my spare time folding some more raffle tickets over the next few days.

On Tuesday morning I went into Adsa South Shields to receive another cheque, this was for my second
tombola I did in store. The cheque was for £196.93, the cheque was presented to me by Mavis Maughan the Community Colleague.

Thanks again ASDA South Shields for your continued support!!!!

On Tuesday, I went to Adsa and spent some of my Adsa Gift Card, which was gift from Asda for being Asda Athlete of the Month in June.

I treated myself to a new Xbox game, as the swimming shut down begins this weekend, and I thought this would give me something to do, until I go on holiday in 12 days time.

I also bought my two sisters a bikini each, as without their support I would be unable to do as much fundraising as I have done.

The £50 I have left on the Gift Card I am going to use to buy Luzozade drinks….next time Asda has them on offer!!!!

On Thursday the 4th August I went instore, to do my 3rd Tombola.

Helping me in store this time was my two sisters, Emma nad Hannah, my mam, my gran and grandpa.

We did the normal went in for about 10 o’clock and finished about 3 o’clock just in time for me to go off training.

We seemed to do quite well, considering the store seemed really quiet. I am looking forward to finding out how much we made.

I still seem to have quite alot of stuff left, so it could be Tombola number 4 soon. Although I might have to see if I can get some extra donations of my friends and family.

I am also looking at other ideas for fundraising, maybe a bag pack or another raffle if I can get some more prizes donated, although Mavis did suggest I sat in a bath, she had and she would keep it filled with warm water!!!!!!

On Friday the 9th of August I met up with Mavis, my Asda Community Colleage to find out how I had done on my Tombola, I raised £186 I am really pleased with that. This money will help me get to the competitions, in the new swim season, that begins in September.

Competitions planned so far are

Sunderland Open 4/5 Nov
Disability Swimming Event – Sheffield Short Course – 26/27 Nov
NER Short Course – 4/5 Dec
Welsh Long Course – Swansea – 17/18 Dec

With plenty more competitions in 2012

My final plans as we move into the final month of fundraising is definately to do another raffle, I am currently trying to organise raffle prizes. I may try and fit in another tombola as I still have lots of prizes left and loads of raffle tickets folded.
