On the 1st and 2nd of October I was competing in the GB U-17 & U-20 Womans Foil Championships, this was held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

Saturday I fenced in the Cadet Under 17 Competition. I was expecting to reach the Last 4 and get a Medal; unfortunately I lost 1 of my Poule fights (these are to 5 Hits or to the end of 3 mins), so I was 5 up and 1 down but this would result in a harder draw through the Direct Elimination Rounds (these are to 15 Hits over 3 periods of 3 mins separated by 1 min of rest).
So I ended up 6th going out in the Quarter Finals :(

Sunday was the day of the Junior Under 20 Competition, fenced alright, won all my Poule fights and again went out in the Quarter Finals and ended up 5th.
I’m happy with the Ranking Points I’ve picked up from both Comps, but to be 3 Hits away from a Medal on Saturday and 2 Hits on Sunday, I can tell you I wasn’t chuffed lol (hence no pics lol).
Anyway the Ranking Points I gained have helped my positions in the GB U-17 & U-20 Lists. I’m 4th in the GB Cadet U-17 Rankings, and 6th in the GB Junior U-20 Rankings.

So still sitting in 2nd Place for selection for the Scottish Womans Foil Team for the Junior Commonwealths with 1 Comp to go.
Couple of less stressful Adult Comps coming up over the next 2 Weeks so I’ll let you know about them in a fortnight – tata for now :)

After the GB Cadet and Junior Championships I’ve been invited to go to Samorin with the GB Cadet U-17 Squad and Luxembourg with the Junior U-20 Squad. I’ve decided to go to the Junior Trip for the experience as I’m moving up to that Age Group in a years time.

This weekend I fenced at the University of York Open which was an Adult Event. Great little competition in its 2nd year of running, really enjoyed the day, and won the Woman’s Foil without loosing a fight (nice new medal yeah).

Its the Highland Open this coming weekend, then its the TV Show (seriously not trying to panic lol). Update soon.

Well I’m still busy every weekend with Competitions, Training through the week and squeezing in my School Work in :)

I really enjoyed the experience of the TV Show, but didn’t make it through to the Final Team :( I had a slight niggle in my knee and there was a lot of running involved, mind you did get the fastest rowing time – even out of the boys lol.

So there has been a couple of Adult Competitions, the first one was the Highland Open up in Inverness, I came 3rd in the Woman’s Foil.

The second Comp was the Allstar Cup, this like the Highland can give you points on your Senior Rankings but it’s also used for points on the Junior U-20 Rankings X2. I fenced well and came 3rd in the Woman’s Foil . This will give me 450 Pts in Senior and 900 Pts in Junior Ranking Tables! YEAH.
So I should now be placed 2nd in the GB Junior U-20 Rankings after fellow Scot Georgia, we both should now be well in line for Selection for the Scottish Junior Commonwealth Woman’s Foil Team – Totally Happy.

The Picture is of the Medal Winners from the Allstar Cup which was in Wolverhampton, all of us Scottish Fencers. There is Me-3rd, Georgia Hannay-3rd, Natasha Thomson-2nd, and Lisa McKenzie-1st.

On Thursday I leave for Luxembourg for my first ever Junior Foreign Competition – then the following week its a big Domestic Adult Comp, the Welsh Open.

I’ll let you know if I’m selected for the Junior Commonwealths and keep you updated on any Results, thanks for reading and I’ll speak to you soon.
