Well that’s me off to Sheffield with the rest of the Scottish Squad. Looking forward to the whole weekend. There’s an Opening Ceremony this evening and the Fencing for me starts at 15:00 tomorrow afternoon. Will update the Blog after the weekend with some more pics and hopefully good news…
My second Year at the School Games has been and gone. Another second place Silver for the Scottish Womans Foil Team. That’s now two on the trot for me. But this year I almost got my first individual medal, I just missed making it into the Last 4 by 1 hit Eeeeek!
But we’ve had the good news that there should be a 7th UK School Games next year in London, I say next year it would only be 8 months time. So lots to look forward to. I’m in London next week for the BSC U-20 Junior Womans Foil, hoping to do well.
By the way its me on the right against fellow Scot Heather Gordon in the Pic. As always you’ll be the first to know my Result next week lol:)
Just thought I’d put this picture in of me getting put out of the Individual Competition at the UK School Games Sheffield. Even though I was really upset as we’d fenced the full 9 minutes and were now on an extra 1 minute of time and I had priority (which means after that minute, if no-one had scored I’d of won). Never mind! Thanks to Dr Aidan Byrne for the great picture.
A really big thanks to my Gran (Ann) and Aunt Joyce for taking me all the way down to London again this year, for the First Comp of the Season. Travelling down on the Friday morning by Train was a nice change to Motorways, and that evening they took me to see War Horse which is a fantastic stage show. Also had a couple of “Really Gid” evening meals lol.
Anyway back to the fencing news :) The BSC (British Selection Competition) London is an Under 20 event; the points gained from it go onto the U-20 Rankings and the U-17 Rankings but multiplied by 2, these Ranking Tables are used for selections to Squads and Teams.
My fencing was Okay but I know I could have performed a little better. But my Result was what I was aiming for and that was a Last 8 finish in 7th Place.
So when the Rankings are updated I’ll be 3rd in the GB U-17’s Cadet Womans Foil. 7th in the GB U-20 Junior Womans Foil, and the one I’m happy about the most is – I’ll be 2nd in the U-20 Scottish Junior Womans Foil with 2 Comps to go until selections for the Junior Commonwealth Fencing Championships :)
So this weekend its the Manchester Cadets Womans Foil, so more Points for the Cadet Ranking…as always I’ll let you know all about it soon.
Really enjoyed the Competition, unfortunately didn’t reach my goal of a L8 finish. Came 10th at the end of the day but this will still be a lot of points on my U-17 Cadet Rankings. Should be in 4th Place when its all updated, will let you know more in a fortnights time after the U-17 Cadet and U-20 Junior GB Championships.
During the UK School Games we were told about a TV Show that was going to be filmed in the Autumn; its called Ultimate Sports Day, its going to be the Home Nations competing at different events and sounds like a whole load of fun…So I applied…totally surprised and happy at being excepted into the ‘knock-out trials’…Looking forward to a completely new experience, hope I do well :)
