On Sunday the 6th I was fencing at the English Institute of Sport in the British U-18 Youth Championships, unfortunately I lost 1 of my Poule fights and ended up in a harder De draw, but still managed to win 3rd Place Bronze.

Then it was onto a Bus down to London and the 2012 School Games being held at the Olympic Venues. Fenced really well and came home with Scotland’s only Individual Medal – 1st Place Gold, so I’m the 2012 Womans Foil School Games Champion…Yeah!
Oh I’m now 11th in the Senior Rankings in GB Womans Foil, so pretty happy : )

Finally got a picture from the BYC Finals down at the English Institute of Sport.

This competition is held every year and only the best/qualifying fencers from each region can attend. Scotland has 4 Regions, mine is Central – Fife/Tayside.

The picture is of all the Finalists; from Left to Right, Quarter Finalists, Hannah Archer, Cecilia Peker, Madelaine Noble, Chiara McDermott, Semi Finalists, Me, Olivia Keys, then Finalists, Alex Fitton and also the Winner Leah King.

This was during the Quarter-Finals against fellow Scot, Lorna Martin who’s on the right. Ta Aidan Byrne, I’m sure I’d have been photo-less without these lol : )

Thought I’d put this picture up, even though I’ve just missed the ‘lame’ for a hit, I do like the image, thanks again to Aidan Byrne.

Found a picture of the Medal Ceremony at this years School Games; from left to right it’s, Ayesha Fihosy (Eng) 2nd, Me (Sco) 1st, and Alex Fitton (Eng) and Chiara McDermott (Eng) joint 3rd.

Still pretty pleased with that result which stopped an English white-wash of all Gold Medals!

Busy just now as I’m getting 3 S&C sessions a week and Physio treatment from SportScotland, which is really going to get me ready for the new Season in September.

This weekend I’m fencing in the Inverclyde Open and then next weekend it’s back down to the ExCel for the London Open – so as always I’ll be in touch with any new news : )

I was nominated for this project by my NGB Scottish Fencing, It’s to open up medical (Physio and Doctors) and training facilities along with S&C Trainers you otherwise might not have at hand.

It’s only been 3 to 4 weeks and I honestly couldn’t be happier; my tight tendon problem has been identified as a ‘glute’ weakness, I’ve been running on empty from being Anemic, and I have a slight symmetry weakness too.

All of these problems are well on the way to being fixed, now on Iron tablets, and my 3 S&C Sessions with increasing weights are sorting out my physical glitches.

So a very big thank you to all the people I’ve seen either in Dundee or Dunfermline from or attached to SportScotland; from my fencing at the weekend I can honestly say it’s all making a big difference and it’s a massive step in the right direction, I honestly can’t wait to see what the training over the Summer will achieve : )

Another Adult Open, this time in (sunny) Largs so not too much traveling required.
There was 2 Rounds of Poules where you fence to 5 Hits, I won all 12 of these fights and was seeded 1st going into the Direct Elimination Rounds. In the DE’s I had a Bye to Last 16, so the L16 fight I won 15-0, then the Quarter-Final 15-4, the Semi-Final 15-5 and then the Final 15-11. Really pleased with my fencing, and it’s been a great warm-up before the London Open this weekend.

If I get my hands on any pics I’ll get them posted and I’ll let you know how London goes as soon as my Gran and I get back.
