I did my last topper event at Carsington Reservoir in October and now I have moved onto the Laser 4.7 class. So far I have done 2 qualifiers for the Laser 4.7 that have got me into the GBR National Laser 4.7 Junior Squad. I achieved top 10 results at both events which was really good because I had never sailed the boat before.

In the Laser National Squad I have so far attended a land based training day at Chichester University. Here we learnt about diet, fitness and core stability and their importance in the sport. I then went on to do 4 days training over half term at Weymouth the 2012 Olympic venue, where I saw lots of Olympic sailors training such as Ben Ainslie and Paul Goodison.

I have also taken part in the Laser Inlands in my 4.7 rig and achieved a disappointing result due to the light winds and not having had any coaching in this wind strength.

This weekend I am off to Pwllheli to sail with the Welsh Laser National Squad where I hope to practice my different techniques and become familiar with this new boat. The following weekend I am going down to Warsash for the 2nd GBR National Squad weekend which I’m really looking forward to.
