For me this was not as successful as I had hoped it would be. I finished up 2nd in the under 18’s and would have been 3rd in the seniors. I was not entirely disappointed because I shot to the best of my ability on both days. I suffered rib pains on the second day due to my lack of practice; my GCSE exams are starting in less than a week. Trying to keep up with a good amount of practice and study… I knew it was never going to happen. However, I was overjoyed to see my younger sister, Lizzy, take first in the under 18s and beat all the senior ladies, after her excellent performance on both days. I wouldn’t have liked to have seen it any other way. X

Well what can I say? It was one of the more difficult courses I have shot for a while. Freezing cold, soaking wet and gales – the worst conditions an archer could ask for. But whatever the weather, my family and I didn’t drive a seven and a half hour journey to Cumbria just to watch someone else shoot. I went out there with a lot of determination and, to me, it paid off. I was not disappointed in failing to get a qualifying score because, let’s face it, I was only 4 points off and in those conditions you can fight as much as you want, but sometimes it just won’t happen. Then, at the end of the day, you can look back, say that you did your best and remember all the good shots. I was just glad to have wonderful weekend with a fantastic group and I got to catch up with some team mates from Northern Ireland. What more could be asked for? X

This was, overall, a successful shoot. I came first in the under 18’s barebow with an overall score of 576 and if I had been entered as a senior, I would have come first by a very close 5 points. I found it was a very enjoyable weekend and, by the second day, I had the pleasure of shooting with my younger sister Lizzy who was only 33 points behind me. Despite the difference in points we both managed to achieve very respectable qualifying scores and are becoming more and more nervous as the team selection of the World Championships 2010 edge that little bit closer.
