A couple of weekends ago I played in the Wimbledon U19 tournament, this was me and my new doubles partner Chloe Birch’s first tournament together and so we were excited to get going! In the mixed me and Ryan McCarthy were seeded to get to the semi finals and thats where we did get to before losing to eventual winners Holly Smith and Tom Wolfenden 21-14 21-17.

We were a bit disappointed with the performance but were happy with parts of our play over the weekend. In the doubles we were again seeded to get to the semi final, we managed it with relative ease and beat a danish pair on the way. In the semi we lost to Sophie Brown and Holly Smith who won the tournament, we played really well and pushed them all the way before losing 25-23 21-17. There was some massive positives to take from the game and so we were pretty happy and excited for the next tournament in Switzerland!

Last weekend I travelled to Switzerland for the first international of the season to play in the Lausanne U19 international. In the mixed me and Ryan were seeded 3/4 so were meant to get to the semi, we came through our first two rounds and then in the quarter faced Emily Westwood and Sam Dobson a fellow English pair who we have faced many times before. It was always going to be a tough game but we managed to come through in a very tight 3rd set to win 21-16 11-21 21-17, we were both really happy with it and couldn’t wait to play the semi.

Unfortunately I wasn’t selected for the world juniors championship in Taiwan at the end of October, I was initially very gutted but now am just focussed on proving that I deserved to go and hope to get some good results from now to ensure that I am picked for the next tournament. Onwards and Upwards!
