I recently went to KL, in Malaysia for two weeks training at Misbun Sideks Academy. 6am wake up calls and unbelievable humidity made for a difficult time, the training being during the hottest times of the day mostly! We stayed at the Sunway resort which had its own water park and shopping mall in the hotel which was where most of our free time was spent! I learnt alot and gained confidence in my training and fitness ready for the long season ahead and also got some vital practice in with my new doubles partner Lauren Bromley.

Whilst we were there we also went to an orphanage that one of the lads on our tour had been volunteering at for the past few months and last summer, this was the most amazing experience and one that everyone enjoyed and left feeling extremely lucky with what we have and learnt alot from! They put shows on and we gave them a badminton exhibition and played with all of them…some of them even beat us!Lets hope this trip helps me get better results this season throughout!

My first tournament of the season was Herts satellite, a silver grade in the senior circuit. Me and partner Ryan McCarthy were very unlucky with the draw and ended up losing 22-20 21-12 to a much more experienced and better senior pair even though we put in a good performance in a really slow hall!
In our first tournament together me and Lauren did really well in getting to the quarter finals where we played the second seeds and narrowly lost 21-18 22-20 in a really long match that had everyone watching! Hopefully we can continue our great form and play even better in the tournaments coming up. Lauren and Ryan are both u18 and so therefore in the u17 Gold at my home town of Milton Keynes they cant play so I have two different partners, our next tournaments together arent for a while now!
