So the 2011/12 Alpine season has come to an end, and its safe to say that I’m really happy with the way the last 2 weeks have gone at the British Alpine Champs in Meribel, France.

I came away with 1 win, 6 second places, and 1 third, so there is definitely a lot of room for improvement, however, it means that my motivation is high to return next year to try and take more gold medals home.

My win came in the British Junior Downhill (under 21’s), my least trained discipline, and was a huge surprise. With bright sunshine and amazing snow conditions, it was so much fun, and was easily one of the best days of the year so far. Unfortunately I missed out on the win in the senior Downhill but 0.3 seconds … A tiny margin on a 1 minute 50 course.

On a more positive note, I scored my best Super-G result the previous day, and cannot wait to ski more speed (Downhill and Super-G) next season.

In addition to the individual discipline results, I also took home second place overall at the British Senior and Junior Championships.

I am currently back in the team apartment in Austria taking a few days off before getting back on the slopes for some ski testing and then some (what I am sure are going to be tough)land training involving hiking and a lot of gym sessions before finally heading back home for the summer to finish school.

A huge THANK YOU has to go out to ASDA, BSS (Britsh Ski and Snowboard), Salomon, LSC (Ladies Ski Club), my parents and everyone who has helped me this season, I could not have achieved any of these results without your support.

After finally being home for a week, I went into ASDA Perth to visit Fi Penman, to organise fundraising dates, and collect my initial £500 cheque. (which I am hoping to put towards getting a road bike to help me with dry land training)

This year I am planning to help out with a number of the other store charities throughout the summer once my exams are over. I shall keep you updated on how they go.

The picture is from the Giant Slalom at The British Schoolgirls’ Races in Flaine where I competed in at the end of January, coming first in the slalom race, and second in the GS.
