I was delighted to be part of Youth Team Scotland who travelled to the Isle of Man for the Commonwelath Youth Games. The journey was an experience as we caught the Ferry during quite bad weather conditions (the journey home was even worse!)
The first day was superb for Scotland in the pool. I was part of the Mens 4 × 100 Medley Relay team with Josh Booth, Craig Benson and Ally Stirling. We finished in second place behind Australia to win silver. My individual event went well on day one and I broke the Scottish Junior Record for the 50 Fly in the final.
I manged to reach the finals for all my individual events and it was a fantastic experience to race against people from countries from all over the Commonwealth. I loved the relays and was really please with the splits I posted. The 200 Individual Medley was best event and I managed to qualify for the final in first place. I knew that was likely to change in the final as Ieuan Lloyd from Wales just cruised into the final. He is the European Junior Champion and is very fast. I was however determined to challenge and thge final was brilliant. I produced my fastest ever time in 2:03.02 to win Bronze medal behind Lloyd and Eugene Tee, Australia.
