Sarah Evans from BBC Good Food magazine features the DB Family Selection Chardonnay (2011) as her “cash buy” to match roast turkey. She tells her readers to “savour this generous Chardonnay, with notes of smoky oak and stone fruits. It’s a ripe, creamy style, delicious cold."
In the December issue of Delicious magazine, Susy Atkins has chosen six of Asda’s wines in her “one- stop festive wine shop”. These the Extra Special Vintage Cava which she describes as "so good I’m keeping a bottle or two in the fridge for when friends drop by", the Extra Special Gavi which is described as a "glorious bargain" with "nuances of peach, lemon and mineral flint" and the Extra Special Champagne Brut as tasting of "lemon meringue pie topped with toasted nuts" – delicious!
In Good Housekeeping’s annual taste test, the Extra Special Champagne Brut is described as “delightfully fresh, bright style with a zippy acidity and delicate orchard flavours” and the mulled wine is rated as the panel’s ‘Bargain’ choice with a “sweet cinnamon aroma.”
In the Sunday Express “S” magazine, Jamie Goode describes Asda’s Beaujolais-Villages 2011 as “a lighter-style red made from the gamay grape, and this is a tasty one with fresh, bright cherry and plum fruit. It would work well with the lamb shank curry."
