Congratulations to Carol and Jill who are both celebrating 40 years of service at our Chadderton store.

Carol Powell (above left) who works on reception, started out at the store in 1976 in the Home and Leisure Department – and Jill Fearn joined on the checkouts in the same year.

Carol says one of the things she loves about her job is the warm relationship between Asda colleagues and customers.

She said: “We have a lot of older customers who may not have seen anyone for a couple of days; they love chatting to us and we love chatting to them too.”

Colleagues at our Bolton store have helped colleague Lisa mark 45 years of service – all in the grocery department.

Elizabeth Bezkorowajnyj – known to everyone as Lisa – started working in the grocery department of the store at Moss Bank Way in 1971 and is now one of the longest serving Asda colleagues in the country.

To celebrate the return of our wonderful gold medal winning athletes from Rio, we commissioned a food artist to recreate some of the team’s best moments using ‘golden’ Asda products.

Talented Welsh food artist Nathan Wyburn used Asda’s Gold Roast Coffee, Asda’s golden syrup, golden breakfast biscuits, golden oats, golden cereal and golden vegetable rice to create five pieces of edible art.
