Colleagues in Asda stores across the UK are busy fundraising for Tickled Pink.

Tickled Pink fundraisers

They’ve been holding a range of fundraising activities and sponsored events in store to raise money for the two breast cancer charities we support, as well as inspiring customers to get involved.

All the money raised is split equally between Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now. With your help we’ve raised more than £44 million so far since the Tickled Pink campaign started 19 years ago.

Asda Awards

Community Retailer of the YearWe’re delighted to announce that we’ve been named as Community Retailer of the Year at the Retail Industry Awards for the third successive year.

The panel of judges were impressed by the impact our community-focused initiatives continue to have had on the local areas around our stores.

We were praised by the judges for an “exceptionally good” award submission that highlighted just how much work Asda undertake in the community.

“It blows away the myth that independents do community work better than multiples,” said one judge. Another member of the panel said its community work was in line with what Asda’s parent company, Wal-Mart, is doing in America “to get communities to embrace the company rather than pushing it away”.

Colleagues at our Dewsbury store have donated seven new bikes to a charity which helps people to go cycling.

Volunteers from Streetbikes with some of the new bikes

The charity recycles bikes to be used for free by people who can’t afford to buy one, as well as enabling elderly and disabled people to go riding.

We’ve been working with Streetbikes for the last three years, and we donated £12,000 from Asda Foundation last year for the charity to buy a van and some adapted bikes for wheelchair users.
