Asda customers can book their winter flu jab from today in one of our in-store pharmacies – for the bargain price of £8.
Trained nurses will be giving the flu vaccination at all 169 in-store pharmacies across England and Wales on 10th, 17th, 24th and 30th October. We’re holding four times as many sessions as last year to cope with the expected increase in demand this year.
Medical centres and hospitals are already planning to cope with a second wave of swine flu after the number of cases in Britain almost doubled last week. And new regulations require Hajj pilgrims to provide proof of vaccination before entering Mecca.
John Evans, Chief Superintendent Pharmacist at Asda, comments: “Although there is heightened awareness and concerns around swine flu, people shouldn’t undermine the severity of seasonal flu which infects between 5 and 20 per cent of the population each year.
“We have increased the number of vaccination clinics this year and offering the flu jab for just £8 means many more people, who do not qualify for a free NHS jab, will be able to benefit from being safeguarded from seasonal flu this winter.”
Last year, family doctors and nurses administered around 13 million seasonal influenza shots. The NHS offers the flu vaccination free of charge to elderly people or those who have long-term health conditions such as asthma and diabetes. However, many more people who do not qualify for a free jab will also want the vaccination. Other retailers are charging more for the vaccine – Boots charge £12.99 and Tesco and Morrisons £10.
To make an appointment simply phone or visit your nearest in-store Asda pharmacy. Details of stores with pharmacies and phone numbers can be found at Asda’s store locator here.

Hi – I am happy to confirm that customers do get a certificate. As part of the vaccination form Asda keep half of it, and the customer takes the rest. Thanks!
Does the vaccine come with a certificate or a letter to say that you have had the jab. The certificate is required for Visa purposes.
Just to make you aware that the price at boots according to the website is £15 allowing you to have 150 advantage points
Mervyn, we agree with you that this is a good idea. We’re seeing what we can do…thanks!
Agree with all the others… why do we have to waste time and money having to phone the store only to be told that you have to make a trip to the store for the questionaire and another for the appointment. With the travel costs and wasted time its no saving over £12.99 at the local Boots store
it would be good if we could make an appointment online
It would also help if the website stated when the nurse was available i.e Sat mornings only as this would have saved me wasted trip!
Would it be possible to download the “pre vaccination questionaire” and also make an appointment over the phone so that only one visiit is necessary.
Thank you.
